General description of the collection: The Carter B. Magruder photograph collection is composed of five oversize albums reflecting the latter part of General Magruder's career. The first deals with the Baltic Peoples Labor Service from 1946-1948 and contains 23 photos. The second covers 1949-1953 when General Magruder was Deputy Secretary of the Army; chief of Occupied Areas; and deputy assistant chief of staff for logistics. The 26 photos in this album show social functions, dinners, ceremonies, VIPs and four photos during a trip to Korea during the war. Album three dates from 1955 to 1959 and contains 39 similar type photos from his tenure as deputy chief of staff for logistics. Box 2 contains albums 4 and 5, both of which cover General Magruder's tenure at United Nations Command, Korea. Album four is from the winter of 1959-1960 and contains 34 photos. Album five contains 231 photos and covers 1 July 1959 to 30 June 1961.

Carter B. Magruder was a United States (U.S.) military general. After graduation from the Military Academy he became a 2nd and 1st lieutenant in the 6th, 8th, and 10th United States Field Artillery Regiments and a captain in the 21st and 9th Field Artillery Regiments.
